Proposed Amendment to New Administrative Rules Pending & Lottery Hearing Date Scheduled
Per an agreement during the recent meeting between representatives of MiCGA and the Lottery Commissioner Scott Bowen and the Director of the Charitable Gaming Division, Mike Petersen, the Lottery Bureau has developed and recommended an additional amendment to the rules that were effective June 30, 2010. This additional amendment would allow for dealer tipping. Many of these issues were covered in HB 5121, which is now awaiting approval in the Senate Committee (we are hoping to get a Senate hearing on this soon.) It is anticipated that these new rules could become effective sometime before the first of the year.
A hearing on this proposal will be held October 27, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Lottery Bureau Building, 101 E. Hillsdale, downtown Lansing. MiCGA representatives will be attendance and we encourage charitable organizations, suppliers, and location owners to attend so we can demonstrate the Michigan charitable gaming industry’s strong, unified presence in our state, and tell Charitable Gaming about our support of the proposed additional amendments.
Please contact us at kate@kordenbrocklaw.com if you will be attending or if you have any further questions or concerns.
