Re: New Advertising Rules
The Bureau has recently received a number of inquiries asking for clarificaiton regarding the advertising rules and inclusion of the three advertising elements: licensee name, license number, and use of proceeds.
It is the Charitable Gaming Division’s position that an establishment has the right to advertise itself as a business. Below are some acceptable examples that do not require the three advertising elements:
“Bob’s Bar and Poker Room – 1212 Division S.W. (616)555-2895″
“Bob’s Bar and Poker Room – Best Beer Selection in Grand Rapids”
However, if the advertising contains references to specific gaming activity, (e.g., dates, times, games, etc.) or pitures, video, or sound representing gaming activity or equipment, thenthe licensee name, license number, and the use of proceeds must appear in the proper format.
Additionally, if a business logo contains a reference, picture, or other representation of gaming or equipment, the three license elements must be present in their proper format if the logo is used in the advertisement.
