Slideshow of the poker room
UMP visited Sharkies Poker House for the Friday night $40 buy-in Freeze-out tournament. The tournament starts nightly at 7:15pm. When I arrived at 6:30pm or so, there were two cash tables going, and a steady stream of players signing up for the tournament.
Sharkies Poker House is located across the street from a big La-Z-Boy warehouse in a strip mall. Lots of well-lit parking, and a drive-up ATM in the parking lot.
Cash games are offered seven days a week from open to close. Texas Hold'em, Blackjack, 7-Card Stud, Omaha & Round by Round are all offered at various blinds and table min/maxes. On Friday night when I walked in, there were two cash tables playing hold'em. Sharkies usually gets Omaha or Round by Round going a couple nights a week, along with a high stakes Hold'em table.
The tournament schedule at Sharkies was made to please a wide array of tournament players. From $10 Cheap Seats every Monday to the once a month $100 Big Fish Tournament on the first Saturday of the month. Seat bracelets are given at the charity window at buy-in, chips given out at the tables. Tournament Director software displays the current level and time left in the blind, with minute warnings before the current level expires.
Sharkies hosts both Freeze-out and rebuy/add-on tournaments. Be sure to check the schedule to find your favorite format!
Sharkies is a non-smoking stand-along poker room (ie - it's not inside a bar or bowling alley). The poker room is well lit, secure, and very clean. Security camers surround the room, and the charity is located behind glass windows. Five flat-screen high def tv's surround the poker room showing NFL Ticket, or what ever show the players request. One TV displays Tournament Director software to keep the tourney players on the same blind and level. In room ATM is on the way.
There is a snack bar at Sharkies selling chips, candy bars, nutrition bars and beverages. Meals need to be ordered in. Free Pizza on Saturdays.
Twelve racetrack-style tables with blue speed-cloth await poker players at Sharkies. Lock boxes under the tables collect table rakes. Custom chips with the sharkies logo for both tournament and cash game players. Chairs are cushioned, and Sharkies even has extra seat cushions available for players!!
Steve and the Sharkies team have done a great job making players feel welcome, and run a great poker room. The dealers, Amber, Alex, Tim, Joel and Jen - on duty Friday, were fast, friendly, accurate and really kept the game moving. Any hand speculation was quickly and politely shut down. Steve was quick to deliver table-side beverages to players, and make sure all cash players were seated.
